Bachelor Thesis from the year 2018 in the subject Agrarian Studies, grade: 1, University for Development studies (faculty of agribusiness and communication sciences), course: SOCIAL CHANGE COMMUNICATION, language: English, abstract: The core mandate of this study is to measure the readiness of graduates who form a chunk of the skilled unemployed in the country to venture into mainstream farming as an alternative employment. In Ghana, agriculture in general and farming in particular is the only source of employment for the youth. When packaged well, agriculture can create a lot of jobs for the youth which will reduce the pressure on the other sectors. The methods employed in this study include both qualitative and quantitative methods of conducting research. Simple random sampling were used to obtain response from the population under study with the use of questionnaire in a form of a survey. Analytical tools such as excel, table and graphs are also used in computing, analyzing and interpretation of the findings of this study. At the end of the study, policy recommendations for the respective agencies and agents on how to increase the willingness of young people to venture in to the aforementioned field are given.
