Versatile biological potentials of imidazole derivatives

Imidazole nucleus forms the main structure of some wellknown components of human organisms, that is, the amino acid histidine, Vit-B12, a component of DNA base structure and purines, histamine, and biotin. It is also present in the structure of many natural or synthetic drug molecules, that is, cimetidine, azomycin, and metronidazole. Imidazolecontaining drugs have a broader scope in remedying various dispositions in clinical medicine. This created interest in researchers to synthesize variety of imidazole derivatives and to screen them for their various biological activities.
