Violence against Women in Bangladesh

Violence against women (VAW) is the most obvious gender-specific violation of human rights, and is a form of discrimination against of women. In this regard, the main objective of the study is to find out the nature and consequences of violence against women. In this research case study has been used as a main method to conduct the study. Its reveals that the intensity of women of rights violation like sexual harassment, dowry, suicide, divorce, eve teasing, rape, acid throwing are the common forms of violence against women. The main reasons of violence against women are dowry, dominating tendency of male, male dependency of women, low economic status, lack of proper implementation of laws and traditional values etc. The study identifies that violence against women has consequences for both the wider society and the individual. Finally in order to combat violence against women, a change in the mindset is crucial. An all out unite effort is required for addressing VAW in collaboration with GO and NGO on urgent basis.
