This book analyses and quantifies how and where energy and water are consumed by the ceramic sanitary-ware industry and provides solutions as to how to reduce this. The whole production process is mapped, including modelling methods.
The book begins by providing an introduction to ceramic sanitary-ware production and types of factories casting technology. It then moves on to discuss the process and energy modelling for the production line, analysis of energy and water consumptions and proposals for improvements. The last chapter presents the practical implementation of the selected modelling configuration.
This book is of particular interest to water and energy management professionals within the ceramic industry, but the methods are of interest to those in other production industries as well.
Carlos Cuviella Suarez has over 25 years' experience working as Engineer in various capacities. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Industrial Technologies at the National University of Distance Education, whilst also working as an internal consultant for the technological department of ROCA. He has published several papers on energy efficiency, sanitary-ware factories and alternative energy systems.
Dr. Colmenar-Santos is a senior lecturer in the field of Electrical Engineering at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering at the National Distance Education University. He is the author of more than 60 papers published on top peer-reviewed journals. He has participated in more than 100 national and international conferences related to renewable energies and multimedia systems applied to teaching. He has worked for AECI-ICI as a high qualified consultant at the INTECNA project (Nicaragua) and been part of the Spanish section of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) and of the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), working in a number of projects related to renewable energies.
Dr. David Borge-Diez has a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering and master's degrees in Industrial Technology Research, Industrial Engineer and Bachelor in Industrial Engineer. His work in teaching and as a researcher is focused on the field of energy, with special emphasis on the use of unconventional energy sources and energy efficiency. For more than 8 years, he has worked in different private companies nationally and internationally developing research projects and engineering work, whilst he has made this activity compatible with teaching and research in different universities and organizations.
