Fechner und die Folgen außerhalb der Naturwissenschaften

Gustav Theodor Fechner's (1801-1887) philosophical, ethical and aesthetic ideas are less well-known to the public than his scientific works. This volume is the result of an interdisciplinary colloquium organized at the University of Leipzig. It undertakes to explore the implications of those ideas for the 20th century humanities from a variety of perspectives- philosophy, theology, linguistics, cultural studies, literary studies and the theory of science. There is a strong emphasis on the interdisciplinary nature of Fechner's achievement. Consideration is also given to a number of biographical aspects.
