Nutrition in Modern Oncology

In cancer patients nutritional support today addresses the same goals as oncologic treatment itself. Caring for healthy nutrition and an adequate individual nutritional state helps to prevent many types of cancer and is an important contribution to make cancer therapy as well as prevention of recurrence more effective. Keeping those goals in mind the aim of this book is to promote a better awareness and understanding of the therapeutic potencies of individual nutritional support and the risks of untreated malnutrition by oncologic surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiologists and to convince oncologic therapists on a scientific base that nutrition is an effective and essential part of multimodal treatment in modern oncology.
