Port Efficiency: A study with Major and Minor Ports of India

The present work of book was started with basic questions like, How are the Indian ports performing? Whether the performances of the ports are based on their magnitude of operation? Whether size influences the efficiency of a port? To answer these above questions this book frames the objectives in the following direction. To study the operational efficiency of major ports in India based on its size. To measure the operational efficiency of minor ports in India on the basis of its size. This book have used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to measure the efficiency of ports in India. As a preliminary attempt, it was measured the efficiency through DEA ¿ CCR (1978) and DEA ¿ BCC (1984) models and also verified the utilization of capacity of ports through DEA ¿ Additive CRS and DEA ¿ Additive ¿ VRS models and DEA A & P (1993) super efficiency model to know the degree of efficiency of the ports that are identified as efficient by the other DEA models. The book have divided into seven chapters. The whole work divided into seven chapters.
